Internship is
required in a senior’s spring semester. The internship is 32 hours per
week. Students are partnered with an agency or organization that is
associated with the specific area of health education they are most
interested in (i.e. administration, after-school program, community
health center, HIV, elder services, etc.) The student is supervised by a
professional in the field as well as a faculty member at the University. |

expected to participate in a pre-determined community health project
happening in Merrimack Valley for a minimum of 40 hours. During
the course of this experience, students will provide the community
health organization with their time, knowledge, and effort, and will, in
return, gain tremendous experience in the organization, development,
implementation, and/or evaluation of Community Health Education and
Promotion Projects. |

The intent of the practicum experience is to
provide an occasion for investigation of a community, social, cultural
or artistic area and/or for learning of skills through temporary
placement in the field. All Practicum Experiences must be approved by
the Art Department, and may be repeated to a maximum of nine credit

project places student volunteers in local agencies to serve as writers.
Students have created handbooks, written grant proposals, developed
classroom materials and worked on websites for youth organizations,
shelters, museums and other non-profit groups in the city. |

Students find their own accounting-related job, usually with assistance
from dept. and/or career services. Minimum requirements are 10-15
hours/week for 12-15 weeks. Student completes two reports (interim and
final) and I conduct a site visit to the job site. Final grade is
satisfactory/unsatisfactory based on the content/timeliness/quality of
the two reports (60%) and a supervisor's evaluation (40%). |
